When it comes to movement, I believe in a nourishing approach. Training can be used to interrupt the pressures and stress of the daily grind. Naturally an anxious person, I’ve discovered power of movement for meditation in addition to health. I show clients how doing less can help them achieve more. My students dissolve chronic tension, develop relaxed resilience and learn efficiency. You can expect joint mobility, exercise science, breath work, mindfulness, and creative expression. My mission is to bring people together on the path towards self-cultivation through fulfilling disciplines and healthful practices.
My rebellious nature as a young person led to my involvement in meditation, Tai Chi/Qigong and martial arts, beginning at the age of 13 years. As an adult, I’ve realized that what’s truly rebellious is a commitment to discipline and appreciation for wisdom. Concepts that seem far too rare in the world today.
After receiving my black belt in Shaolin Kung Fu, and seeking to make a bigger difference in the lives of others, I completed my Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) education in 2010. My experiences as a first responder and working in hospitals taught me the importance of movement as medicine. Movement is life – stillness is death. This awareness was the driving force guiding my decision to pursue a science degree in Kinesiology at the University of Victoria, graduating in April, 2018.
My formal training in both western medicine as well as eastern philosophical disciplines helps me to meet individuals where they are, and to approach challenges with a broader perspective. I teach group classes in Yang Family Tai Chi, Movement Therapy and Youth Jiu Jitsu. My students learn to find focus and resilience in the ever more stressed and distracted world.
